Pomegranate ‘n’ Lime is a window into our cultural past - a very well curated, distinguished and tasteful past. Through our brand we are hoping to lay out a route towards the all but forgotten grandeur of our cultures, both Eastern and Western. We wish to share an experience that gratifies not just your discerning taste but your visual senses as well.
To express the brand desire we chose the name Pomegranate ‘n’ Lime for its uniqueness - the relish of sweet with a hint of tart. Pomegranates have signified richness and abundance since the dawn of civilization. Beauty and eternal life are also associated with the pomegranate fruit. In many cultures it is associated with good luck and prosperity.
Lemons on the other hand have been used to represent freshness, purity of soul as well as the bittersweet essence of life. At times they also signify longevity and love Pomegranates and Limes have been linked to many civilisations - India, Persia, Greece and even the Roman Empire.
The blossoms and fruits appeared in carvings, sculpture, tapestry and exquisitely woven fabrics such as chintz, silk and chenille. The very popular ‘tree of life’ motif woven into wall carpets and rugs more often than not, carried the pomegranate fruit. Both, lime and pomegranate. have been used symbolically in art through the ages. Pomegranate trees and lime trees were part of everyday life. Grown in courtyards not just for their beauty and fragrance, but also for their healing and medicinal properties.
A courtyard was the melting pot of society - appearances were cultivated, discernment was served and sophistication was delicately sipped upon. The courtyards - central to the luxuries of life, social etiquette, and political intrigue - is where connoisseurs stamped there eminence with flair and aplomb.
